Whale Dies With 100 Pounds of Plastic In Stomach

Fishing nets, ropes, bags and plastic cups were some objects found in the animal’s stomach.

The whale was found dead on Luskentyre Beach, on the Isle of Harris, in Scotland.

In the animal’s stomach a tangle of fishing nets, ropes and other plastics were found.

The Scottish Marine Animal Strandings Scheme wrote, in a publication that has since been withdrawn from social media, that “the animal was in very bad shape and although this amount of debris could cause the whale to die, in fact we found no evidence that it had obstructed the intestines ”.
