IMF willing to mobilize one billion dollars

The intention is to help countries to combat the economic impact of Covid-19.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) “is prepared to mobilize” all of its lending capacity, one billion dollars, to help countries combat “the economic and humanitarian impact” of the new coronavirus.

“As a first line of defense, the IMF can use its flexible and flexible toolbox to help countries with urgent balance of payments needs,” said Kristalina Georgieva in a text released by the institution.

Governments, faced with the Covid-19 pandemic, must stimulate the world economy in a coordinated way if they want to stabilize the situation, she underlined.

All measures, “all this work – weather monetary, budgetary or regulatory – is most effective when done in cooperation,” write Kristalina Georgieva.
