Number of animals affected by the fires could reach 1 billion.
About 1,000 kilograms of sweet potato and carrot were dropped from a helicopter in different parts of the Australian state of New South Wales to feed the hungry animals fighting to resist the fires that are plaguing the country.
“Providing supplementary food is one of the key strategies we are implementing to promote the survival and recovery of endangered species,” said New South Wales Minister of Energy and Environment.
Brush-tailed rock-wallaby marsupials are at risk of extinction, as they can escape the fire but are limited in terms of food.
