Since August 2018, young people from 6,600 cities in 223 countries have participated in the climate strikes.
The Global Climate Strike is held today in 157 countries and its fourth edition aims to mobilize young people to participate in the 2019 United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP25). In total, 63,000 climate strikes have already taken place.
More than 100,000 protesters are expected at the climate strike, according to estimates from the “FridaysForFuture” movement’s official website, and the protests will serve to convince the people to attend COP25 – which starts in Madrid on Monday.
The COP25, which will take place from December 2nd to 13th, will be attended by Greta Thunberg, the young Swedish activist who – in 2018 – began to skip classes to protest in front of the Swedish parliament against the inaction of politicians on environmental issues.
