Dutch investigation identifies antibody capable of stopping Covid-19 infection

Whether this antibody can protect or reduce the severity of the disease in humans is now the challenge of this investigation

A group of researchers has identified a human monoclonal antibody capable of preventing the SARS-CoV-2 virus from infecting cells.

According to the magazine Nature Communications, this discovery could mean that a first step towards treatment against Covid-19 is being taken.

The work was conducted by researchers from Utrecht University, the Erasmus Medical Center and Harbor BioMed (HBM) in the Netherlands, and continued the steps taken in research against the outbreak of the first coronavirus (SARS-CoV), which occurred in Asia between 2002 and 2003.

Whether this antibody can protect or reduce the severity of the disease in humans is now the challenge of this investigation.
